Rabbit and Perplexity

Figure 1: Rabbit R1
The Rabbit R1 got a lot of press at CES. At $199 it was a no brainer to try a novel new device. Whether it lives up to the promise of the CES announcement video remains to be seen. When I ordered it I was pleasantly surprised to see that they gave away a free year of perpelxity pro making the transaction a net wash.
I’m not the only one pointing out that Google search is a steaming pile lately. There is definite enshitification at play. So a free year of the pro level of perpelxity.ai was very welcome. I had already switched knowledge searches almost entirely to perpelxity. It is just much better and it gives you the answer right away. No hunting and pecking at links in frustration looking for the info needle in the web site hay stack.
Update: A decent article covering the behind the scenes decline of Google Search.
Update: This review is pretty scathing.
Update: Watched another video about the founder and company and immediately decided to cancel my order. To their credit they processed it within minutes.
