I admit to double taking on this one. Pausing when reading and thinking “that can’t be true”, but after doing the research realizing that yes, this is true.

HISD to eliminate librarians, turn libraries into discipline centers at 28 campuses

Yes, Houston’s largest school district is getting rid of librarians and libraries at 28 schools, replacing them with “discipline centers”. Of course the cuts will impact poor and minorty majority schools the most.

What motivates reasoning like this? If I was a parent in that district I would be livid. Here’s hoping that push back works.
