G Shock MR-G G2000

In anticipation of a vacation I picked up a top of the line G Shock. The MR-G G2000 is one of the MR-G series of watches which represent the highest quality materials and finishing from Casio/G Shock.

I wanted something rugged that I could wear every day for every activity. It’s the perfect travel watch with its ability to display a second time zone. It has a alarm complication, as well as a timer and stopwatch. The time, both local, and in the other time zone can be set manually, from your smartphone, or from GPS. The watch is solar powered. Other complications include an am/pm indicator on the secondary time zone, day of week, 24 hour clock, and a back light. The watch is very well lumed.

The one negative is that the rubber strap that mine came with requires cutting to size which is a little nerve racking. You have to cut it one “link” at a time, the links being lines already scored into the rubber. A strap tool is needed as well as you have to take the clasp off.

I’ve been wearing this for a month now and really am surprised how much I like it. If I had to cut down to a three watch collection this would definitely make the cut.
