Essential Linux Tools: Emacs
Emacs is the grand daddy of all text editors. I started using Emacs around 1988/1989 by which time it was already a decade old. I used to live in Emacs as a software engineer even writing my own modes, and was very much an expert. I dropped it over the years though as my career moved in different directions. I’ve recently returned to it as a tool for writing and for managing a GTD workflow with one of it’s most powerful packages, org-mode. There are a slew of other packages that are very useful including magit (for git), elfeed (for news reading), and mu4e (for email). This WordPress site is written in org-mode and published using org2blog.
If your interested my Emacs configuration is here. Always a work in progress.
